Seeds of a New Earth

The sun shines and illuminates the full moon in Libra. Balance is called for. Our current imbalance is clear to us all and in the silence we can feel it evermore. In the quiet, we hear our truth.

We already knew that balance wasn't to be found in the inequalities of wealth distribution. One percent owning 50 percent!

It is not to be found in burn-out.

It is not to be found in all forms of discrimination.

It is not to be found in the pollution of the earth, the skies and the waters.

It is not to be found in fear, tempting us to sink deeper into the shadow. 

The sun shines and illuminates the full moon in Libra. Balance begins internally — in the quiet we hear our truth. Our guides, they are there in our silence illuminating the way forward. 

We are invited to listen. 

In listening, we know that we have everything we need to bring balance to the whole, because Ubuntu — I am because we are. 

With the challenges of COVID-19, the dust is still in the air, and while we do not know how things will look and be at the end, we know that the world will never be the same again.

Balance invites the wisdom of the union of the Yin and Yang — the feminine and the masculine — highlighting the critical importance, now more than ever, of having women on the decision making table. 

In the heart of this unprecedented global crisis unique solutions are required. This cannot be achieved by any individual actors but by the unity of all stakeholders to redesign systems that have failed its most marginalized communities.

I recall the words of Graça Machel, international advocate for women and child rights, saying, “there is no profound transformation which can take place unless it involves precisely those who have been oppressed massively to be engaged because they have to liberate themselves to liberate others.”

While humans as a species have a deep seeded fear of change, paradoxically, we are also the most equipped to adapt to change. Currently, for the first time perhaps in human history, everyone is united in their experience of a journey into the unknown. The shared challenges across the globe tests and awakens our resilience and incredible ability not only adapt but also create something even better and stronger. 

The time to act is now — while there is no going back to the world as it was, there is every opportunity to design the world we want shaped by people, centered on people, anchored in the power of our unity.
